Our department is staffed by three full time team members, who oversee the operations of our two on-site data centers, cloud storage facility, 75 desktop PCs, 14 Multimedia classrooms, 2 computer labs, and the public work stations in the library. Several people have asked for assistance in using the new work order system. To provide assistance in this area, our department has developed a number of help videos and have placed them on the work order page on the intranet. These videos are at the bottom of the work order page in the "Help" area. http://intranet.pcj.edu/work-orders

We have updated our work order system for maintenance so that it can handle I.T. related tasks. To submit a work order you can go the Intranet at http://intranet.pcj.edu and click on the work order link on the top right of the page. It you are viewing the IT Department page you can find the work order link on the right side bar or you can click on the link as noted above. This link will take you to a page that is self-explanatory. The old links to the work order system may not work at some point in the future, so going to the Intranet as noted above, is the best course of action.

Over the last couple of years we have had two different work order ticket systems running, one for I.T., and one for maintenance. We are in the process of making some changes to the maintenance system so that it can process technology requests. Once this is complete we will turn off the I.T. ticket system. This means that users will be able to submit work order requests for most IT and Maintenance on a single system.

The Wifi network locked up this afternoon. Users reported that they were being asked to login. Upon doing so, many received an error saying that the maximum connections had been reached. It appears that more than 500 devices have now been registered on the gateway, which is the maximum number allowed in the license. Wifi Solutions and WOW have been notified and they are in the process of installing 500 additional device licenses. Until then I have rebooted the gateway. This will clear the issue for a little bit. I will let post when we have the additional licenses installed. [Update 9/18] I reset the wifi gateway yesterday. If you are not getting connected then open up your wireless settings on your device, tell it to forget the PCJ-WIFI network (this will clear the old connection) and then reconnect to that network. When you open your browser you will be asked to log in again. User name PCJ-WIFI and the password is the one I emailed earlier to you. If you have any issues getting connected give me a call.

At approximately 4:30 PM yesterday the Internet began to slow down. This slow down affected both wired and wireless networks on campus. At 8:30 am this morning we isolated the problem ( a bad switch in the main switch room ). By 8:45 AM we corrected the problem and the network speeds were restored.
