Dear Theologians,

“Let  us  not  be  closed  to  the  newness  that  God  wants  to  bring  into  our  lives!  Are we often weary, disheartened and sad?   Do we feel weighed down  by  our  sins?   Do we think that  we  won’t  be  able  to cope?  Let us not close our hearts, let us not lose confidence, let us never give up: there are no situations which God cannot change, there is no sin which he cannot forgive if only we open ourselves to him.  Let the risen Jesus enter your life, welcome him as a friend, with trust: he is life!  If up till now you have kept him at a distance, step forward.  He will receive you with open arms. Welcome Back and Happy Divine Mercy Sunday!  I hope that Holy Week, the Triduum, and Easter observances were beautiful.  The Church rejoices with our newly initiated Catholics.

Congratulations to Deacons Joshua Carlos, David Ludwig, and Ryan Gray who were ordained to the diaconate over Easter Break.  It was good to see so many seminarians in attendance.

I would like to welcome the following individuals this week:

• Fr. Burke Masters, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Joliet, visiting on Sunday, April 12 – Wednesday, April 15.
• His Excellency, Most Reverend Paul S. Loverde, Bishop of the Diocese of Arlington, visiting on Wednesday, April 15 – Friday, April 17.
• Fr. J.D. Jaffe, Director of Vocations for the Diocese of Arlington, visiting on Wednesday, April 15 – Friday, April 17.

I thank you in advance for your attention in welcoming them to our home.

Tomorrow, Monday, April 13, there will be a house meeting which will begin in Conrardy Hall at 6:55p.m, followed immediately by a formation conference at 7:10p.m.  I will be giving the conference, which is entitled:  “Parish Administration: Part II”  to Theology I, II, and III.   Fr. John Allen will be giving the formation conference to Undergraduate Pre-Theology and Pre-Theology which is entitled: “Preparation for Parish Ministry” in Library Classroom III. 

These conferences are noted in your formation handbook. Please look at the discussion questions prior to the conference in order that you may be properly prepared to enter into discussion which is an expected component of these formation evenings.

Furthermore, on Monday, April 13, C.M. Almy will be available from 9:00-1:00p.m. in the Dining Room.  C.M. Almy are outfitters who make vestments and furnishings that grace and enhance worship in churches and for clergy.

Please remember the deacons in prayer, as over the next three weeks they will be taking their MA Concentration examinations.

Tuesday, April 14, there will be an Easter Celebration & Pork Fest.  Please check the day board for details.  Come out and join in on the fraternity.

Saturday, April 18, there will be a Tennis Tournament at 1:00p.m. in Olentangy Park.  If you are interested, please sign up at the day-board by Thursday, April 16.  If you have any questions, please see Mitch Roman.

Saturday, April 26, there will be the 6^th Annual 5K Shadow Nun Run at 2:00p.m. on the Josephinum Campus and into the neighborhood.  If you are interested, please sign up at the day-board by Wednesday, March 15 in order to ensure a T-Shirt.  If you have any questions, please see Jonathan Howell.

May the Easter days be a time of grace and joy.  Let us not just get to the finish line – let us run towards it and may these final weeks be successful, joyful, without rancor, and with an approach that is positive.

May Our Lady, St. Joseph, and our guardian angels be with us.
